The lilacs are staying outside

Friday, April 30th, 2004

Bummer. Two of my kids have tree pollen allergies, and poor Tim, his eyes blew up like little pink balloons on his face! He’s on Zyrtec and now two different eye drops as well. But he’s such a trooper, only winced a little when I put the drops in.

I forgot that last year I brought in lilacs and Andy & Tim both reacted to them . So no indoor lilacs for me this year.

Lilacs

The lilacs are coming! The lilacs are coming!

My most favoritest flowers!

When I was a kid my grandfather planted a lilac bush outside my bedroom window. I had to be only about 5 years old, and we moved from that house when I was 7, but since then they’be been my favorite flower, the smell, the color, the totally springiness of them!

Two lilac bushes came with our yard, lucky me!

What’s the date?

Had to write a check and sign my name on three separate forms today. I dated each on 4/29/04.
I’m not sure what happened to the three missing days…

Just another spring Saturday

Saturday, April 24th, 2004

Well, that wasn’t as bad as I thought. Today was spring-sports-a-palooza around here. Pat took Nick to soccer training. I took Tim to LL opening day “parade” (which consisted of walking across a grass field from the school playground to one of the LL fields) and opening ceremonies. Meanwhile Pat and Andy squeezed in haircuts at the barbershop. Grabbed hotdogs at the LL fields for Tim & me (Carrabas was catering burgers and chicken but we skipped it. Carrabas hamburgers??) Pat meanwhile was putting in the insulation for the bathroom. I took Nick up to his soccer game, Pat took Tim back to the LL fields for his team photos, then home… then back for his game. I dropped Nick off at home after his game (he was goalie, made a bunch of great saves! But they lost 3-2) and ran over to Tim’s game so I could relieve Pat, who returned home to finish the insulation and get dinner started. They chose today to start pitching to the t-ball kids, four pitches, then they drag out the tee so the kid can actually hit. Tim made a good play at third, finally hit a pitched ball, and had a blast scooping dirt into his hat then dumping it over his head. I love t-ball.

So, finally, back home. Pat’s making a steak on the grill. In fact it’s ready now. I’ll proofread later!

I prefer to be called “sweetheart” anyway…

It’s Curtains for ‘Darling’ at Theater Group

Something we as a nation need to see

I know there’s been lots of discussion about this photograph over the last couple days. I hear the arguments that we never hear about the good, only the bad in Iraq. But as long as there are cargo flights like this one, the bad far outweighs the good.

Date night!

Friday, April 23rd, 2004

Pat and I have actually started to get into the habit of going out on dates. I think we date more now than we did when we were “dating”, because of the long distance thing and all. But now that Andy is old enough (and I tell myself responsible enough) to baby kidsit his brothers, we get out a few times a month. Usually we just head to a local restaurant. I suppose we could see a movie once in awhile, but I really like having the time to just focus on each other and talk. At home there are too many distractions, ya know? So tonight we’re going out. We have plenty to talk about, with his new job and all.

Which, by the way, he’s really enjoying so far (after 4 days.) They’re treating him like royalty, and he’s even started to look for people to hire to help him out. That makes me happy, after the old place was looking toward hiring people in India, the new place plans to hire more people in NJ.

This afternoon Andy and I have a consult with the orthodontist. I’m not looking forward to this- I have a feeling he’ll need more work, and he’s less than thrilled at the notion. Can’t say I blame him- the hope was he’d avoid metal braces, and so far he has, but I know he’ll always regret it if he doesn’t get this done right. So wish me luck with it all!
