Hi, miss me?

September 14th, 2006 by annie

There are still one or two of you popping in now and then. While I never wrote this blog for an audience, I have to admit it’s nice to have one once in awhile. Otherwise I’d just bellow into a Word file and store it on my F drive (actually, I do that. But even less often than I post here.)

My house is still unfinished , 4 months after we undertook this remodelling. Almost there, though.

My oldest son is off to college, after a summer of having him underfoot. I complained often about his lack of employment while he was here, but realize I liked having him around. We made it through his adolescence with our relationship not just intact, but flourishing. Very little teen angst. Lots of humor. Always humor. And a lot of battle choosing.

I’m in need of paid employment, but I haven’t taken those big steps toward making that happen yet. Little steps, like writing a resume, hooking into online job postings, spreading the verbal word that I’m here- but applying for a real position? Only one so far, with no response. In my defense, I had planned to get started with that this week, the week after the boys all went back to school. But instead I came down with pneumonia.

I’ve been on antibiotics for 3 days. Felt a bit better yesterday but today I feel more like I did two days ago. Not sure what’s up with that. So here I am, mentally determined to get my shit together and start earning some cash, but physically with yet another excuse- a for-real one, but at a time I promised myself no more excuses…

That’s what’s going on. Lots of other stuff has gone on, but it makes no sense to recap the entire summer. It had some huge high points, mostly time spent with family and friends in places other than home. And some low points, including the loss of a member of the family -RIP Uncle Benny. But, life moves steadily forward, and I’m doing my best to embrace the moments as they come.

Just don’t embrace anything too hard just now, or it will probably set off one of those awful pneumonia coughing fits. ;-) Seriously, glad you’re on the mend, and good luck with the job search!

I too have been applying for jobs and actually had a real live interview…that went nowhere. Oh well…at least I’m still taking photography class and have my quilting. :)

Take it easy and pamper yourself! You deserve it!

I sure hope you get to feeling better soon! And I hope the house will be finished here shortly! I’m not sure how I will take it when Ashley leaves for college next year, so I can only say I hope YOU are taking it well! Oh, I read your blog every time there’s a new entry (always disappointed when there’s not), so keep it up!
