I typically couldn’t care less about collegiate football

November 9th, 2006 by annie

scarletr.gifThe state of NJ is positively crackling about about tonight’s Rutgers v Louisville football game. Both are undefeated, the stadium will be full of bowl scouts. The Star Ledger has devoted an entire special section of the paper to this game, as well as a big feature about tailgating treats in New Brunswick. It’s even spread to NYC, the Empire State Building will be lit up in Scarlet Knight scarlet tonight.

The cool thing about all this, of course, is that in the lifetime of these Rutgers kids, the team has sucked. No one went to the games. They were yet another NJ joke.

We’ll be home, watching on ESPN. Andy was hoping to get a ticket, but they’re requiring student id to use the student tickets. And I’m pretty darn sure the id has to be a Rutgers id, another state school won’t cut it. Not that he would have been able to even get a ticket.

I’m wondering if I should make a friendly wager with my good friend Bluegrass Mama?

UPDATE: It’s onnnn! Bluegrass Mama and I have made our wager- loser has to display the winning team’s logo and final score on their sidebar for a week.

They may be telling the locals they’re lighting The ESB up in scarlet, but I’m going to call it Cardinal red.

So, what’s your offer? (And none of this “beating the spread” business!).

    ;-)

It’s a straight bet- I don’t have a clue how to beat spreads and I don’t get all that over/under stuff anyway.

    Congratulations, she said sadly.
