What a game!

Friday, November 10th, 2006

I can’t remember the last time I sat through an entire football game (truth be told I was also reading a magazine.) But Rutgers actually beat Louisville!
Bluegrass Mama is now displaying a lovely red R on her sidebar (I’m afraid it clashes just a bit with her color scheme). Go over and say hi, she’s a big Louisville fan and I’m sure it’s a bigger sacrifice for her to display the other team’s logo than it would have been for me had I lost our bet- she’s a great sport about it!

Tequila!

Monday, May 8th, 2006

I went to a Cinco de Mayo party on the fifth of May (I’m cool like that.) It was a girls night out thing, and as mentioned last week, it was hosted by a friend of my homegrrl Keri. I figured great, I’ll get to meet some new people, see a nice house (yes, it was a very nice house and I’m lusting after her basement of all things…) and eat some good food. Not much drinking good drink, because I had to be up for Tim’s communion the next morning. Although I did manage to quaff (nice word, quaff) 2.5 glasses of the most AMAZING sangria ever. It had cognac in it. Seriously. And of course fruit.

But, back to the party. I knew a bunch of people in a “hi” “hi” kind of way from around the schools, a few others are fellow Cub Scout Mommies like Keri & I. There were quite a few newbies like me. It was cool. I can’t say much more without breaking the rules of Girls Night Out. You know, what happens there stays there… but next time I’m doing tequila shots with them.

Party like it’s 1981

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

Guess it’s time for a quick update. The NYE party was a BLAST! We ended up bringing Nick along- the 13 year old- but the other 13 year old boys we thought would be there weren’t. Although there were five 12-13 year old GIRLS there. Who were being all girly. Fortunately there was a group of 16 year old boys who let Nick hang with them, so he had a good time.

There was way too much food. There was a chiminea type thing burning out back. There was great music on a mix CD made by my friend’s boyfriend. There were people there I barely know but sometimes that makes it even more fun. It was nice to really party- not sit around and act all proper-like. We danced, we sang, we drank. I even did shots of Jagermeister. I don’t know how I’ve lived this long without doing that, but I guess the punch lowered my resisitance and next thing I know I’m drinking what tastes like Nyquil. OK, now I can say I did that. It was like we were back in high school college.

The kids were avoiding us for some reason. I guess watching people in their 40s party like they’re teenagers is appalling to actual teenagers.

Plunderfest

I had an amazing time at WDW with my fellow pirates. I only wish I could see these people more often. If you knew the history (much too long & sordid a tale to blog here) – let’s just say this is the nicest, warmest group of haters and felons you’ll ever meet.

So, there was a little rain. And a bit of wind. But that lightened the crowds- we practically had the Magic Kingdom to ourselves on Sunday night, and we took full advantage. All you need is a rain poncho and a little something to spike your Sprite.

Down the Shore in Seaside

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Friends invited us to spend the day with them in Seaside Park last week. Surf was big, the kids had fun. Toward late afternoon the lifeguards finally let the boogie boards in and Tim boarded for the first time. (click image to see more)
